Apple’s iPhone 17, Apple Watch And MacBook Pro Are About To Get Thinner Than Ever Before

When Apple released the 13-inch iPad Pro last month it became the company’s thinnest-ever device at just 5.1mm thin. But we’re now expecting that some other Apple hardware to follow suit, starting with the iPhone 17.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Apple is set to use the iPad Pro as the starting point for a new wave of hardware that will be thinner and lighter than the products that came before.

“I’m told that Apple is now focused on developing a significantly skinnier phone in time for the iPhone 17 line in 2025,” Gurman’s report explains. “It’s also working to make the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch thinner.”

According to the report Apple’s “plan is for the latest iPad Pro to be the beginning of a new class of Apple devices that should be the thinnest and lightest products in their categories across the whole tech industry.”

Apple isn’t expected to announce the iPhone 17 until September of 2025 but there is no suggestion of when the MacBook Pro or Apple Watch will catch the thinness bug.

More imminently, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max this coming September while the rumored Apple Watch X and an updated version of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 should also be expected to launch around the same time.
